The delegation of the IUEH took part in the International Conference AURORA “The Role of Higher Education in Peacebuilding”, which was held on February 17-21 at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. The Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities was represented at the conference by Rector Vitalii Demianchuk, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Quality of Education Viktoriia Artiushok, and Head of the Department of Romano-Germanic Philology Iryna Budz.
The conference in Innsbruck became a platform for discussing the most important issue of our time, both for Ukraine and the world as a whole building sustainable peace. The event brought together more than 300 participants, including 147 speakers. Over the course of the five-day programme, scholars from around the world presented research projects on the role of higher education institutions in fostering a culture of peace, the impact of educational initiatives, events, and policies on sustainable development and social interaction at 3 plenary sessions, 20 breakout sessions, 8 roundtables, and 17 workshops.
Representatives of IUEH, together with their British colleagues from the twin-university Bath Spa University, were the main speakers at a roundtable dedicated to peacebuilding project practices, namely the International Public Student Readings “I Vote for Peace!”, the Peace Museum and the Twinning initiative. For 30 years, IUEH scholars and practitioners have been actively working on the problems of educating the younger generation on the ideas of peace, tolerance and mutual respect, conducting in-depth research, implementing innovative methods, engaging local communities in dialogue and cooperation.
Despite challenging and turbulent times, thanks to international support, IUEH scholars have the opportunity to share the world's best practices and contribute to a safer and more sustainable future
