Department of Pedagogics
The Department of Pedagogics is one of the leading divisions of the Academician Stepan Demшanchuk International University of Economics and Humanities. One of the oldest departments of the university was established as a joint Department of Pedagogics and Psychology in 1993, and since 1997 the Department of Pedagogics has existed as a separate unit.
The main activity of the Department of Pedagogics is the education of pupils and students on the ideas of peace in the educational process of the school and institution of higher education.
The staff of the department
The staff of the department has 5 scientific and pedagogical workers, including: 2 professors, doctors of sciences in pedagogics, 3 associate professors, PhD.

The bases for practice, stakeholders
The Department of Pedagogics closely cooperates with general secondary education institutions in Rivne, summer health camps, charitable foundations. The stakeholders of the department are:
- administration and educators of PSI (Preschool Institution) № 28, 32, 40 Rivne,
- administration and teachers of primary education of Rivne gymnasium "Harmony";
- members of the board of the “Treasury of Hope” Charitable Foundation.
- Rivne Liliia Kotovska Academic Lyceum "Prestige" of the Rivne City Council
The Department of Pedagogics together with the Department of Primary and Preschool Education, involving stakeholders and graduates of the university, systematically organize scientific and practical conferences, seminars, round tables, workshops on topical issues of educational and methodological work on the use of new forms and methods of teaching. Lecturers of the Department of Pedagogics are invited to the methodological association of educators of preschool education.
Methods and forms of education (innovative)
In the process of teaching disciplines, lecturers of the department use innovative forms and methods of activity. In particular, future pedagogue learn theoretical material in the form of problem lectures, visualizations, conversations, dialogues, discussions.
The formation of professional competencies of students in practical classes is used by lecturers of the system of innovative learning technologies, such as:
- situational training,
- game, design technologies,
- problem-based learning technologies,
- contextual technologies.
Lectures and practical classes are accompanied by multimedia presentations.
Lecturers of the Department of Pedagogics attach great importance to the practical component of the educational process, in connection with which practical and laboratory classes are conducted in an applied format on the basis of secondary schools with the involvement of stakeholders.
In particular, with 3rd year students practical classes in the study of "Innovative models of teaching and education of primary school children" are systematically conducted on the basis of Rivne gymnasium "Harmony", where future pagogue master innovative technologies of education and upbringing of primary school students.
3rd year students of the speciality "Preschool Education" are actively involved in working with preschool children on the basis of PSI № 28, where they conduct classes on a jointly developed with the educator’s lecture notes.
With 1st year students of the speciality012 Preschool Education and 013 Primary Education in the study of the discipline "Introduction to the specialty" classes were held respectively on the basis of PSI №40 in Rivne, Rivne Liliia Kotovska Academic Lyceum "Prestige" of the Rivne City Council and Rivne Regional Universal Scientific Library.
Classes conducted in an applied format allow students to build their own pedagogical trajectory, acquire relevant professional competencies, master pedagogical skills.
Scientific work
The results of lecturers’ research work of the department are reflected in scientific publications.
During the period 2010-2020, more than 300 lecturers’ scientific works of the department were published, including: 8 author's monographs (prof. Demianchuk A.S. (4), assoc. Melnychuk L.B.(1), assoc. Marchuk O.O. (3)); lecturers of the departments are co-authors of collective monographs (prof. Demianchuk A.S, assoc. Pahuta T.I., assoc. Melnychuk L.B., assoc. Marchuk O.O.), authors of more than 200 scientific articles in journals and collections , 80 textbooks, one of which is a textbook with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (assoc. Pahuta T.I. (2008)).
The scientific activity of graduate students and applicants is managed by the leading lecturers of the department: Doctor of Sciences in Pedagogics, Professor Demianchuk A.S., Associate Professor: Pahuta T.I., Melnychuk L.B., Marchuk O.O. Thus, in 2018, 2 PhD dissertations were successfully defended under the supervision of assoc. Melnychuk L.B., assoc. Marchuk O.O.
Under the guidance of lecturers, students take an active part in competitions of scientific works and subject competitions. Thus, the third-year student of the Faculty of Pedagogics Bolba O.V. under the guidance of Assoc. Petruk O.M. in 2005 - 2006 took the second place at the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works, and the third-year student of the Faculty of History and Philology Samchuk O.V. in 2009 took the first place at the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in pedagogy.
The academic staff of the department and students annually participate in All-Ukrainian and interantional scientific and practical conferences, held on the basis of partner universities (Andrzeja Frycza Modrzewskiego Krakow School of Higher Education, Kodolaniy Janos University, Institute in Nyred , Baranovichi State University), with which relevant agreements on partnership and cooperation have been concluded and on the basis of which lecturers are undergoing internships and advanced training.
During the last three years (2017-2019) it has become traditional for the Department of Pedagogics to hold All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conferences together with the Department of Primary and Preschool Education.
The teaching staff of the department organises work with students and masters on the preparation of coursework, Bachelor's and Master's Theses, publication of scientific articles in the collection of scientific works of the university.
Educational and methodical work
Due to the fact that the department provides teaching of 30 disciplines at 7 faculties of the university, the academic staff of the department systematically works on creating educational and methodological complexes in relevant disciplines and on the publication of textbooks, manuals and guidelines.
For the last 5 years lecturers have published 4 monographs, more than 40 educational and methodical works.
Volunteer work, educational activities
The Department of Pedagogics has its own good traditions. One of them is the International Student Public Readings "I Vote for Peace". This is a tradition started by the founder of our University, Doctor of Sciences, Academician Stepan Yakymovych Demianchuk, which has been supported by the initiative group of the Department of Pedagogic in our institution of higher education for almost 24 years. The purpose of the readings is to involve the talented student elite in prose and poetry to express their vision of the problem of war and peace.
For the last 5 years schoolchildren from Rivne, Kramatorsk, Kyiv, Lutsk, Shepetivka, Smily, Kremenchug, as well as Kyiv, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Volyn, Khmelnytsk, Poltava, Cherkasy regions took part in the International Student Public Readings. Among the foreign representatives are students from Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Israel and Georgia.
Based on the results of the readings, a collection of 250 best student works is published annually.
In the pages of the collection, students express their sincere hopes for an end to the bloody war as soon as possible and the long-awaited peace in our homeland.
Another recently established tradition of our department, which is supported by lecturers of the department of primary and preschool education, is to involve students in charity fairs "Students’ Creativity - for the life of the child", which aims to involve students in volunteering by presenting creative and culinary products.
Students of our faculty were thanked for the charity and mercy, significant contribution to the noble cause of saving children's lives, for indifference and constant support of volunteer projects by the staff of the Charitable Foundation "Treasury of Hope".
Educational Activities
Lecturers of the department systematically carry out educational work with students: conducting weekly curatorial hours, involving students in university-wide educational activities.
With special enthusiasm, future pedagogue participate in charity events, while showing organizational skills, ingenuity and creativity, for which they received an award from the charity fund.
Cooperation with other high education insitutions
In cooperation with other institutions of higher education, in particular, Rivne State University for the Humanities, Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University, Kharkiv Humanitarian and Pedagogical Academy, the Department of Pedagogy with the support of the Department of Primary and Preschool Education holds annual All-Ukrainian conferences “Actual problems of reforming primary and preschool education in the context of European integration processes ", pedagogical readings, master classes.
International cooperation (conferences, seminars, etc.)
It should be noted that the acadenic staff of the department and students annually participate in both All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conferences and international ones held on the basis of partner institutions of higher education.

In accordance with the cooperation with the Wielkopolska Socio-Economic Higher School in Srode, (Poland), lecturers of the Department of Pedagogics participated in the development of curricula and programs agreed with the Ministry of Education of Poland. This will allow students to study in joint educational training programs based on the European credit transfer system.
