Department of Theory and Methods of Journalistic Creativity

The department as a separate structural unit was established in 2005. At the Department of Theory and Methods of Journalistic Creativity are working 1 PhD in Philological Sciences, Associate Professor (Myroniuk V.M.), 1 PhD in Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor (Shkabarina M.A.), Honoured Journalist of Ukraine - Babinets A.I., member of the board of the National Union of Photographic Artists of Ukraine Kharvat O.M., Senior Lecturer Vyshnevskyi M. Ya. And Lecturer Horchykova A.O.

Employees of the department successfully combine educational and practical work. Honoured Journalist of Ukraine, Associate Professor Babinets A.I. worked as an editor of the Goshchansk district newspaper "Ridnyi Krai" from 1988 to 1991, and since 1998 and still heads the "Public and Political Newspaper of Rivne region "Free Word". Babinets A.I. is the winner of the All-Ukrainian competition "Business Man of the Year", winner of the M. Horopakhy award. He is the nember of the audit commission of the secretariat of the regional organisation of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, author and co-author of several books. Associate Professor Kharvat O.M., is a member of the Union of Photographic Artists of Ukraine, from 2000 to 2004, he worked as Chairman of the Rivne Regional Organisation of the National Union of Photographic Artists of Ukraine, Member of the Board of the National Union of Photographic Artists of Ukraine, Honoured Artist of the International Federation of Photography (EFIA) ), member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, member of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine, Ambassador of Peace. Oleksandr Kharvat has also been the founder and lecturer of the Private Establishment "School of Photography" since 2005. He is the participant and winner of more than 250 exhibitions around the world. He is the organiser of annual national and international art photography competitions "Photo Vernissage on the Shroud" since 2006 under the auspices of FIAP, the Rivne Cup of Photography since 2012, the international competition of reporter photography "Life Press Photo" since 2015 and others. He is the publisher and author of more than 50 books on art, photography, culture, local lore of Rivne and Volyn. Students have the opportunity to create journalistic materials, machines and publish the university newspaper "Seventh Floor" under the guidance of Senior Lecturer Vyshnevskyi M. Ya. Students can also apply in practice the acquired knowledge in the classroom by preparing informational messages on the University website, in this they are assisted by the Lecturer Horchykova A.O. PhD, Associate Professor Myroniuk V.O. defended her dissertation on the topic "Poetics of Mark Cheremshina's prose" at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 2008 and is actively involved in research. She is the author of many articles and investigations. She manages scientific (course, bachelor's, master's) works of students. PhD, Associate Professor Shkabarina M.A. defended her dissertation on the topic: "Development of pedagogical creativity of future primary school teachers in the process of studying professional disciplines" at Volodymyr Hnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University in 2018. She has been working at the Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities since 2017 as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer at the Departments. She is actively engaged in scientific activities, is the author of many articles and investigations and supervises scientific (course, bachelor's, master's) works of students.

The department provides training in the educational program "Journalism" at the educational levels bachelor and master. More than 180 students study full-time and part-time. Curricula are updated annually in accordance with the requests of stakeholders and applicants for higher education. The department has a library for students, which contains the latest professional literature.

Due to constant cooperation with regional mass media and involvement of journalists-practitioners in the educational process, a number of agreements have been concluded with the media, which allow students to undergo industrial and undergraduate practice.

The scientific problems of the department include the study of journalism "Study of the role of modern liberal information culture in the system of social communications" (№ state register. 0118U001563). Scholars study compliance with professional standards in media, information policy and security, photojournalism, 3D graphics, concepts of modern journalism, development of radio and television journalism, cross-media trends, editorial and publishing management, promotion of publications, socio-communicative models in the region.

The staff of the department has published methodical recommendations, manuals, monographs on the most important training courses, which are in the database of the repository of the university http://dspace.regi.rovno.ua:8080/jspui/

Scientific and pedagogical employees of the department actively participate in all-Ukrainian and scientific conferences, trainings, attend master classes. Students actively publish their research in the student collection of scientific papers under the guidance of our lecturers.

The department is constantly in touch with our graduates. Thus, in 2019, a series of master classes "Forge of the profession from graduates" was launched, in which graduates talk about the peculiarities of becoming a profession and the need for professional training as a component of success.

"MASTER": Modern information technology, media policy, social issues in the media.

In 2018, the department launched the project ERASMUS + KA2 "Journalism Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Developing Standards, Integrity and Professionalism". The partners of the department are the University of Bat Spa (Great Britain), Linnaeus University (Sweden), University of Lodz (Poland). The project aims to modernise journalism education on the model of EU countries. Within the framework of the project, the teaching departments took part in three international scientific conferences: Bat Spa University (Great Britain), Taras Shevchenko National University, Linnaeus University (Sweden).
