History of the Department

The academic of professional disciplines is provided by the Department of Primary and Preschool Education, which is an integral part of the Institute of Pedagogical Education of the Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities. The Department of Primary and Preschool Education trains specialists in the specialties 012 "Preschool Education", 013 "Primary Education" in the field of knowledge 01 "Education / Pedagogy" at two levels of higher education: Bachelor of Preschool Education, Bachelor of Primary Education (based on complete general secondary education), master of preschool education, master of primary education (based on bachelor's, specialist's, master's).

The activities of the department are aimed at training highly qualified, competitive teachers who are able to solve complex professional and practical problems in the development, education and upbringing of children of early, preschool and primary school age in preschool and general secondary education, able to solve specialized tasks that are characterized by the complexity and uncertainty of the conditions with the application of the theory and methods of preschool and primary education, taking into account universal values ​​and norms of professional ethics of the teacher.

The Department of Primary and Preschool Education is a powerful team of like-minded people with high professional, pedagogical and scientific potential. Since 2018 and now the position of the Head of the Department is Doctor of Sciences, Professor Krasovska Olha Oleksandrivna. The department has 10 highly professional full-time lecturers: 1 Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Sciences, Professor Madzihon Vasyl Mykolaiovych, 1 Doctor of Sciences, Professor Krasovska Olha Oleksandrivna, 2 PhD, Associate Professors, Professors of the Department: Yanytska Olena Yuriivna and Kukalets Myroslava Vasylivna, PhD, Associate Professors: Soiko Ina Mykolaivna, Borova Valentyna Yevheniivna, Miskova Nataliia Mykolaivna, Khomiak Olha Anatoliivna, 1 Senior Lecturer - Kyrylovych Olena Feliksivna, 1 lecturer - Maksymchuk Nataliia Stanislavivna and Laboratory Assistant - Mysko Iryna Petrivna.

The Department of Primary and Preschool Education of the Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities began its activities on September 1, 1997 as the Department of Primary Education. From the beginning of its existence, the Department of Primary Education was headed by Doctor of Sciences, Professor Koval H. P., who had a task to create a friendly, capable, creative, ready for scientific and pedagogical activities team. Since 2002, the department was headed by: PhD, Professor Kukalets Myroslava Vasylivna, PhD, Associate Professor Soiko Inna Mykolaivna, Doctor of Sciences, Professor, Academician Madzihon Vasyl Mykolaiovych, who put a lot of effort, experience, knowledge and time to strengthen the teaching foundation of the Faculty of Pedagogics.

The first staff of the department included Professor Koval H.P., Associate Professor Derkach N. I., Professor Kukalets M. V., Associate Professor Fedchuk L. I., Professor Krasovska O. O., Senior Lecturer Kyrylovych O. F. At the Faculty of Pedagogics, classrooms for methods of primary education, artistic work, and later - methods of preschool education began to function. Many efforts for their equipment, acquisition of necessary literature, educational and methodical materials, periodicals were made by the first methodologists of the department Kyrylovych O. F. and Maksymchuk N. S., who created favorable conditions for educational and independent work of students.

During the existence of the department 2 doctoral and 6 PhD dissertations were defended. Materials of dissertation researches and scientific publications of professor Madzihon V. M.,, professor Yanytska O. Yu., Professor Kukalets M.V., associate professor Soiko I.M., professor Krasovska O.O., associate professor Miskova N. M., associate professor Khomiak O. A., associate professor Borova V.Ie. are used for the preparation of scientific and educational works by lecturers, graduate students, undergraduates and students. The Department of Primary and Preschool Education is dynamically developing and improving its work, introducing innovative educational technologies and methods, advanced pedagogical experience, forming a powerful information base. The high quality of teaching and the level of research at the department create unique opportunities for the training of future researchers, scientists and qualified professionals in the field of primary and preschool education.

In terms of reforming higher education in Ukraine, the Department of Primary and Preschool Education provides the following strategies for progressive development:

- personal-professional, which is based on the priority of personal-professional potential of teachers, educators-mentors and provides development of more powerful potential of future specialists in the pedagogical field - educators of PSI and primary school teachers;

- creative, which is manifested in the constant search for ways to improve the professional training of future educators PSI and primary school teacher;

- pedagogical interaction and cooperation (carried out at the local, university level) between the Department of Primary and Preschool Education and Pedagogics, Psychology and other Departments of the university; between lecturers and students; at the national level: development of partnership cooperation with pedagogical departments of the High Education Institutions, research and other institutions and organizations abroad.
