On July 5, the second international conference Twinning UK-Ukraine 2024 "The role of universities in the post-war recovery of Ukraine" took place.
In the Polish capital, Warsaw, representatives of the universities involved in the initiative joined the discussion of the results and future plans.
It is worth reminding that Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities together with the Bath Spa University (UK) joined the Twinning Programme in June 2022. The universities have been implementing joint international activities in the field of education and science in various areas for two years.
During the conference, Charles Cormack, Chairman of the Cormack Consultancy Group, summarized the results achieved by the twinning universities and outlined the challenges faced by the partners in implementing joint activities.
During the conference, the participants, led by the Twinning Program Managers and Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, considered the contribution that educational institutions can make to the development and construction of the country. They discussed the sustainability of results, priority areas, startups for infrastructure restoration, and reintegration programs for Ukrainians who left because of the war.
Alina Lavreniuk, Head of the International Project Department, and Julia Coates, Immigration Compliance and Advice Manager, had the opportunity to share their experience in implementing projects and joint activities with colleagues from different regions of Ukraine.
At the end of the conference, the collection of works "I Vote for Peace" was presented to Charles Cormack, Head of the Twinning Programme, which was published as part of the project "I Vote for Peace: Cooperation and Compassion in a Time of War," which Charles himself joined last year.
The results achieved by all the partnerships and the future plans outlined will help to develop universities, increase rankings, expand internationalization, and open up new opportunities for both students and faculty in Ukraine and the UK.
